For a reliable Stream Studio setup, use a modern computer with the recommended hardware, software and internet connection to run Stream Studio smoothly. Where possible, run your Presentation and Control Panel on a separate browser or computer to help distribute system resources.

Hardware

A computer with at least a quad-core processor and 16 GB of RAM is recommended as a baseline for running Stream Studio. For auctions where the computer is also running the Presentation, Control Panel and other applications, 32 GB of RAM or more is recommended to provide additional system resources.

Use a computer with a modern processor, rather than an older or entry-level device, particularly when running Stream Studio and other auction applications on the same computer.

Connect your camera, microphone and other USB devices before launching Stream Studio. This allows the computer to detect the devices and load the required drivers.

If using a wireless microphone, connect and power on the receiver before launching Stream Studio.

Software

Use an up-to-date supported browser when running Stream Studio.

If Stream Studio and the Presentation are being operated on the same computer, it is recommended to use two different chromium based browsers such as Google Chrome for the Control Panel and Microsoft Edge for Stream Studio. This helps distribute browser resource usage rather than running both in the same browser.

Internet Connection

Use a stable, high-speed internet connection with sufficient upload and download speed to support live video streaming.

If using Wi-Fi, check both the available internet speed and the Wi-Fi signal strength at the computer running Stream Studio. The computer should be positioned close enough to the router to maintain a strong and stable signal. A speed test may show good results while the Wi-Fi signal is weak or becomes unstable during the auction.

Where possible, use a private network with minimal traffic for the live auction. Avoid relying on a public, shared or heavily used network where other users may connect and consume bandwidth during the auction.

It is important to test the connection under conditions that are similar to the actual auction. For example, a connection may test at 100 Mbps upload and 100 Mbps download when tested alone, but performance may drop when other users or devices are using the same network.

If Stream Studio is being operated from an office network, check whether other systems are scheduled to perform online backups, large file transfers, software updates or other bandwidth-intensive activities during auction hours. Where possible, schedule these activities outside the auction period.

A wired Ethernet connection is recommended where available, as it generally provides a more consistent connection than Wi-Fi.

Recommended Screen Setup

For the best operating experience, use two monitors, with one monitor displaying the Control Panel and the other displaying Stream Studio. Where possible, using two separate computers is also recommended to distribute the workload between the Presentation and streaming setup.

Test Your Setup

Complete a test run of Stream Studio before the auction using the same computer, cameras, microphone and internet connection that will be used during the live event. This helps identify hardware, software or connectivity issues before going live.
