Setting Up and Enabling YouTube Live
Verify and enable YouTube Live
YouTube Live lets you broadcast events in real time. To begin streaming, your YouTube channel must first be set up correctly and verified for live streaming. This process ensures your account is authorised, in good standing, and ready to support live broadcasts. By completing the setup steps in advance, you can confidently enable YouTube Live and be prepared to link it with Auctions Live for seamless streaming.
What You’ll Need
- A Google account and a YouTube channel you control
- Access to YouTube Studio on a desktop computer
- A phone number for verification
Steps to Enable Live Streaming on Your YouTube Channel
Step 1: Log in to your Google account and open YouTube Studio.
Step 2: In the left-hand menu, click Settings, then go to Channel followed by Feature eligibility.
Step 3: Under the Intermediate features section, click Verify phone number and complete the verification process via phone or SMS. This unlocks live streaming, custom thumbnails, and longer video uploads.
Step 4: Allow up to 24 hours for YouTube to activate live streaming for the first time. This is a one-time activation delay.
Step 5: Complete Advanced features such as ID verification, video verification, or channel history confirmation.
Step 6: Ensure your channel is in good standing. Live streaming will not be available if you have had live restrictions in the last 90 days.
Important Note
YouTube requires channels to be verified before streaming. If you plan to use YouTube Live for an upcoming auction, complete these steps well in advance to avoid delays.
