Important Update For Multi-Lot / In-Room Auctions

Changes to lot based charging structures effective 1 July 2026.

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining reliable, professional auction technology services, RE Software will be introducing a minor pricing adjustment effective from 1 July 2026.

This change relates specifically to auction campaigns where a property is initially offered as a single combined lot and, if not sold, is subsequently auctioned as separate individual lots within the same presentation.

Why This Change Is Being Introduced

Over many years, RE Software has absorbed a significant portion of the operational costs associated with these auction formats.

Historically, agencies have often benefited from a pricing structure where:

  • If the combined lot sold, only the single lot fee was generally applied, despite additional lots often being configured and prepared behind the scenes.
  • If the combined lot passed in and the individual lots proceeded to auction, fees were then applied across the separate lots auctioned.

While this approach has allowed us to support agencies running these specialised sales strategies, increasing operational and technology costs mean this arrangement is no longer sustainable.

What Will Change?

For all properties assigned an auction type on or after 1 July 2026, the full applicable fee will apply to each lot configured within an auction presentation.

This applies regardless of whether:

  • The combined lot sells before the separate lots are offered.
  • The individual lots ultimately proceed to auction.
  • The campaign concludes before all configured lots are auctioned.

Understanding the Operational Requirements

Although separate lots may not always be auctioned individually, substantial work is still undertaken by our systems and infrastructure in preparation for the campaign.

This can include:

  • Creation and management of multiple digital auction presentations.
  • Publishing auction data across website display widgets.
  • Property and auction setup processes.
  • Bidder registration management.
  • Livestream and auction event preparation.
  • Ongoing platform resources allocated to each configured lot.

These services are delivered prior to auction day and form part of the operational workload required to support the campaign successfully.

Recommendation for Agencies

For agencies regularly utilising this sales strategy, we recommend reviewing your Vendor Paid Advertising or campaign administration fees to ensure the additional configuration requirements are appropriately accounted for within the overall campaign budget.

This will help ensure vendors remain fully informed of the process being adopted while allowing agencies to continue offering flexible auction strategies.

Questions?

If you would like further clarification regarding how this change may affect your office or upcoming campaigns, please contact your RE Software Account Representative, who will be happy to assist.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to continuing to provide the auction technology and operational services that help power your auction campaigns.

In Summary

Listings are imported into the RE Software platform with an Unassigned status and are not chargeable at that stage.

Once an auction type is assigned to a listing, the listing becomes chargeable in accordance with the applicable pricing schedule. This applies regardless of whether the auction proceeds, the property is withdrawn, sold prior to auction, cancelled, etc.

In short, charges are based on the auction configuration and setup work undertaken within the platform, rather than the eventual outcome of the auction campaign.
