How to Create Transparent WebM Overlays

A simple guide for making AI green screen videos ready for live streaming

This guide walks you through how to create an AI-generated video with a solid green background using VEO 3, and then convert it into a transparent WebM overlay to add to your Mult-Lot / In-Reeom Presentation. You’ll learn how to prompt VEO 3 for a clean chroma-key background and how to use Adobe Premiere Pro with the WebM plugin to remove the green and export a video that supports transparency.

We’ve created this guide to help subscribers using the Auctions Live Scenes Expansion Pack produce and upload WebM overlays that sit on top of their Mult-Lot / In-Reeom Presentation, giving them more freedom to customise the look and feel of each auction.

Please note that WebM overlays will only work when the Mult-Lot / In-Reeom Presentation is launched in the latest version of Google Chrome.

This is a general guide only. Software, plugins and AI tools evolve quickly, and we can’t guarantee that the steps or processes outlined here won’t change over time.

Tools and Software You Will Need

The following tools are required before starting:

VEO 3 AI Video Generator for generating the initial video.

Adobe Premiere Pro for editing and removing the green background.

Adobe Media Encoder which installs with Premiere Pro.

Fnord WebM Plugin for exporting WebM with transparency.

Steps to Generate a Green Screen Video in VEO 3

Step 1: Log in to VEO 3 and open the video generation interface.

Step 2: Set the output resolution and clip length as required for your overlay.

Step 3: Write a detailed prompt describing your animation. Specify a solid, uniform, featureless background of pure chroma key green #00FF00.

Step 4: Add clear instructions that the subject must not contain any green and that no green reflections should appear anywhere in the scene.

Step 5: Include instructions for no shadows, no drop shadows, no gradients, no dark corners and no vignette.

Step 6: Generate the video and review the output to ensure the background is a perfect chroma key green with no colour variation.

Step 7: Download the MP4 file to your computer once you are satisfied with the result.

Steps to Install the WebM Plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro

Step 1: Open the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application.

Step 2: Select Stock and Marketplace then search for WebM.

Step 3: Install the Fnord WebM Plugin so Premiere Pro and Media Encoder can export WebM with transparency.

Step 4: Restart Premiere Pro to activate the plugin.

Steps to Remove the Green Background in Adobe Premiere Pro

Step 1: Create a new project and import your VEO 3 video.

Step 2: Drag the clip into a new sequence.

Step 3: In the Effects panel search for Ultra Key and apply it to the clip.

Step 4: In Effect Controls use the eyedropper to select the green background.

Step 5: Adjust the key settings to ensure all green is removed while preserving the subject.

Step 6: Enable the Transparency Grid in the Program Monitor to confirm the background has been removed.

Steps to Export a Transparent WebM Overlay

Step 1: Open the Export Settings window by selecting File then Export then Media.

Step 2: Set the Format to WebM.

Step 3: Select VP9 as the codec and enable the option to Include Alpha Channel.

Step 4: Confirm the resolution and frame rate match the original clip.

Step 5: Choose an output location and click Export or select Queue to send the job to Adobe Media Encoder.

Step 6: Test the final WebM in OBS Studio or a supported browser to confirm transparency is working.

Sample VEO 3 Prompt

Use the provided reference image of the company mascot as the subject.

Place the lion in front of a solid, uniform, featureless background of pure chroma key green #00FF00.

No other part of the scene may contain the colour green.

No green light should reflect onto the lion or any object.

Ensure the background is evenly lit with no shadows, no drop shadows, no gradients, no dark corners and no vignette.

The lion must retain its original look, proportions and colours.

MOTION

Animate the lion beginning in the background then running toward the camera. The clip ends with the lion in the foreground delivering a strong roar directly at the viewer.

STYLE

The scene must be clean, bright and evenly lit with crisp edges and no motion blur unless required. The background must remain 100 percent solid green with no variation.
