Duplicating Auction Listings in Auctions Live

Best Practices for Managing Duplicate Auction Listings

When Should You Duplicate a Listing?

In Auctions Live, duplicating an auction listing may be necessary when a property is passed in and scheduled for auction again at a future date. This process helps maintain accurate records while streamlining the management of recurring listings.

Why Duplicate a Listing?

Duplicating a listing ensures that historical data is preserved while allowing you to modify auction details for the new event. It helps maintain continuity, particularly when tracking bidder activity and property performance across multiple auction dates.

How Does Duplicating a Listing Work?

When you duplicate a listing in Auctions Live:

  1. Automatic Source ID Update: The system automatically adds an additional identifier (e.g., "___2025-02-03T11:17:18+11:00") to the original Source ID. This signifies that the listing is a duplicate and differentiates it from the original.
  2. Option to Transfer Bidders: You may have the option to carry over all past bidders to the new duplicate listing. This is useful if the same pool of interested parties remains relevant for the upcoming auction.

Considerations for API Hub Users

If your office uses Auctions Live's API Hub to automatically receive listing updates, it's important to consider how duplicate listings are handled. Duplicate listings can trigger new data entries, so ensure your systems are properly configured to process these updates accurately.

If you wish to continue using the same Source ID, we recommend manually swapping the Source IDs between the original and duplicate listings to maintain data consistency.

Best Practices

  • For Listings Over 3 Months Old: Avoid duplicating older listings. Instead, create a new listing in your CRM and import it into Auctions Live. This approach reduces data inconsistencies and ensures your listing reflects the most current information.
  • Data Accuracy: Always review duplicated listings to confirm that all property details, auction dates, and bidder information are accurate before publishing.

By following these guidelines, you can efficiently manage auction listings while maintaining data integrity in Auctions Live.
