Introducing Override Display Status: Greater Control Over Listing Status
We are introducing Override Display Status, a new enhancement that gives users greater control over how a listing’s status is presented to audiences on widget pages.
Users can now add a custom display message when changing a listing’s status. This allows agents and administrators to provide potential buyers with more relevant and contextual information without changing the listing’s underlying system status.
Customise How Status Appears on Widget Pages
Previously, the listing status selected within the system was displayed directly on the applicable widget page. With Override Display Status, users can replace the standard public-facing status with a custom message when additional context is required.
Standard Listing Status: Under Offer
Override Display Status: Under Offer – Subject to Finance
The underlying listing status remains unchanged. Only the status presented to visitors on the widget page is replaced by the custom message.
How It Works
When a user selects Change Status from the Listing View Page, the existing status selection field will continue to be displayed.
- ● Select a Status: Choose the required system status using the existing Status field.
- ● Enter a Custom Message: A new Override Display Status text field will appear directly below the Status field.
- ● Save the Update: Enter the preferred public-facing message and save the listing changes.
Once the update has been saved:
- ● System Status Is Retained: The selected Listing Status remains the official status used by the system.
- ● Widget Display Is Updated: The custom Override Display Status is displayed on applicable widget pages.
- ● Standard Text Is Replaced: The custom message replaces the standard status text shown to widget visitors.
- ● Internal Workflows Remain Unchanged: The override does not affect the listing’s underlying system status.
Clear Indication When an Override Is Active
A dedicated indication badge will be displayed underneath the listing status, making it easy for users to identify listings that currently have a custom display status applied.
The badge will be available within:
- ● Listing View Page: Identify the active override while reviewing an individual listing.
- ● All Upcoming Auction Listings: Quickly identify upcoming listings with overridden widget status text.
- ● All Past Auction Listings: View override indicators when reviewing historical listings.
Automatic Reset When the Listing Status Changes
To prevent outdated custom messages from being carried across to a new listing status, the Override Display Status field will automatically be cleared whenever the underlying Listing Status is changed.
Current Status: Under Offer
Current Override: Under Offer – Subject to Finance
If the listing status is changed to Sold, the existing override message will automatically be removed.
The user can then enter a new custom display message that is appropriate for the updated listing status, if required.
Why This Enhancement Matters
Override Display Status provides greater flexibility when communicating listing information while maintaining the integrity of the underlying status used for internal workflows and reporting.
This enhancement enables users to:
- ● Provide Greater Context: Display more descriptive and informative listing status messages.
- ● Improve Buyer Communication: Present important listing information directly to potential buyers.
- ● Protect Internal Reporting: Maintain the existing system status for workflows, administration and reporting.
- ● Control Public Presentation: Choose how listing status information is displayed on applicable widget pages.
- ● Identify Active Overrides: Quickly recognise listings where a custom public-facing status is currently applied.
This enhancement gives users greater control over their public-facing listing information while ensuring the underlying listing status remains accurate and unchanged.
