What Auctioneers Should Look for in a Digital Auction Platform

Auctions Live / Auctioneer tools

Software that supports the auctioneer.

Auction software for auctioneers should show incoming online bids clearly, provide bid controls and keep accurate auction records. Test these tools while calling a practice auction. A feature list alone will not show whether the controls are easy to use.

Bid controls See and manage online bids.
Live streaming Test delay, picture and sound.
Lot changes Check the active property.

01 / BID CONTROLS

Auction software for auctioneers: test the controls.

Ask the provider to run these tests in its auction management software. Use the device you would use on auction day.

Test What to do What to check
Incoming online bid Submit a bid from an approved test bidder. The bidder, amount and pending status are clear.
Accept or decline Accept one test bid and decline another. A submitted bid is distinct from an accepted bid.
Floor and online bids Have a scribe record a floor bid as an online bid arrives. The auctioneer can identify the current accepted bid.
Auction status Practise the final calls, sale and passed-in controls. The bidder view matches the auctioneer’s call.

On smaller screens, scroll across to view the full table.

02 / STREAMING

Test delay, sound and picture quality.

When comparing an online auction platform, test the bidder stream on the venue’s internet connection. Measure latency, meaning the delay between the auctioneer speaking and the viewer hearing it. Check picture quality, sound and buffering. Test the public website stream separately.

Ask where recordings are saved, who can access them and how to download a copy. Check the downloaded picture and sound quality. Confirm how the completed auction and replay appear on the agency website, including any manual steps.

03 / MULTI-LOT EVENTS

Check lot changes and presentations.

For Multi-Lot/In-Room auctions, change the order of sale and move to the next property. Check that the property auction platform updates the active lot and presentation correctly.

Auctions Live’s Prezo Studio lets teams create custom branded presentation templates and layouts. Ask to see property details, bid amounts and auction status during a practice call. Check that the presentation is readable from the back of the room.

04 / PRACTICE AUCTION

Practise before using it with bidders.

Test the real estate auction system with your auctioneer and scribe. Confirm:

  • Who handles registrations, floor bids and streaming.
  • What the team does if the venue connection drops.
  • How staff retrieve bidder details, bid history and the result.
  • Who provides urgent support and when they are available.

If a required task fails, ask the provider to show the correct steps and test again. Auction software for real estate agents needs to work for the team running the sale.

05 / AUCTIONS LIVE

What auctioneer tools does Auctions Live provide?

Auctions Live provides a Mobile Console App that includes an Auctioneers Online Bids Controller. Its Onsite solution supports electronic bidder registration, online bidding, electronic scribing and website livestreaming.

For Multi-Lot events, the platform also supports lot sequencing and branded presentations.
